Key Message

Strawberry Bon Bons, officially known as "Strawberry Flavored Hard Candy", are a product of Coastal Bay Confections, trademarked by Greenbriar International. It is a product that holds a small, but strong cultural significance in the American household, as its memory has been preserved in many walks of life. The company has had little to no promotions in recent years (if at all), and its products are known to be elusive. To many peoples' surprise, this candy can easily be found in the candy isle of most dollar stores, which explains the myth that only grandmas carry this product in their bags.

 

Insights

  • 4 out of 5 people surveyed did not recognize the name "Strawberry Bon Bon" without describing or showing them a photo of the product.

  • Strawberry Bon Bons are a cultural staple recognized first by their visuals rather than taste or name.

Target Audience

Anyone who pays attention to candy trays, especially at a grandparent's house, teachers' desks, or local small businesses when growing up.
